Mittlerweile ist es schon das neunte Mal, dass die European Skateboard Championships in Basel stattfinden und sich die europäische Skateboardwelt in der Stadt am Rhein versammelt. Unter anderem kommen dieses Jahr alle drei amtierenden Europameister: Jürgen Horrwarth aus Berlin in der Minirampe, und Phil Zwijsen aus Belgien in Street und Ianire Elorriaga aus Spanien, die den Girl’s Jam letztes Jahr gewonnen hat,  wie auch AmsterDamnAm Sieger Ricardo Paterno aus den Niederlanden und Publikumsliebling Axel Cruysberghs aus Belgien.

Die Junior Champs starten am Donnerstag in vier Alterskategorien und die besten 10 der Junioren Gesamtwertung dürfen dann weiter das Wochenende mit den “Großen” mitskaten. Freitag widmet sich der Vorentscheidung, jeder der nicht qualifiziert ist, muss die Prequalifikation mitfahren. Die Liste der Top 100 ist auf www.skateboardeurope.com zu sehen.
